The creative vision behind VAVA Eyewear comes from Pedro Passos da Silva, a Portuguese designer and the founder of the brand. He launched VAVA around 2013–2014 with the goal of creating eyewear that blends technology, art, and minimalist design.
Pedro da Silva previously worked in the fashion industry and collaborated with global brands such as Hugo Boss before starting his own eyewear label. His experience in fashion and design inspired him to create frames that go beyond traditional eyewear and instead function as conceptual design objects.
The design philosophy of VAVA focuses on minimalism, geometric shapes, and futuristic aesthetics. Pedro da Silva wanted to create eyewear that represents a balance between technology and human creativity, using pure lines and architectural forms. Many VAVA frames feature flat “zero-base” lenses, a distinctive concept that challenged traditional eyewear design and introduced a new visual identity in the industry.
Another key aspect of his work is sustainable luxury. VAVA frames are produced using high-quality eco-friendly acetate and handcrafted techniques in Italy, ensuring durability and responsible production.
