How do I measure my child for kids glasses so they fit right?

Measure temple-to-temple across the bridge and the pupillary distance (PD) with a ruler or ask for a free fitting in-store at GEM Opticians’ Kids Sunglasses and Optical Collection. As a quick guide, sizes often run: small for ages 2–5 (about 40–44mm lens width), medium for 6–10, and large for 11+—but always try frames on. Tip: bring your child’s favorite pair to a store appointment so our staff can match width and temple length and make on-the-spot adjustments.

Do GEM kids sunglasses provide proper UV protection for kids?

Yes—GEM Opticians’ Kids Sunglasses come with UV400 lenses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays, and many models (like Ray‑Ban Junior and Oakley Youth) offer polarised options for glare reduction. Lenses also commonly include scratch-resistant coatings and impact-resistant polycarbonate for safety. Ask a team member to show the UV specification on the product tag or pack before you buy and always clean lenses with a microfiber cloth and mild soap to preserve coatings.

Can I order children’s prescription glasses from GEM and upgrade the lenses?

Absolutely—GEM offers children’s prescription glasses in our Kids Optical Collection and can fit frames from Vogue Kids, Emporio Armani, Versace, and Burberry with prescription lenses. You can upgrade to polycarbonate or high‑index lenses, add anti‑scratch and anti‑glare coatings, and choose photochromic or polarised options for outdoors. Next step: bring your most recent prescription (and PD) or book an eye test at your local GEM so we can recommend the best lens package for your kid’s prescription and activity level.
