Driven by the zest to delve into the untapped potential of the business of vision in the country, GEM opticians was conceived in 1969 by Shri. R.K. Kataria in New Delhi's South Extension-1 Market. Albeit the demand for it at the time, the luxury eyewear market was fairly unexplored; GEM opticians was founded with the core focus to fulfil this latent need.
Under Shri. R.K. Kataria's able guidance, GEM Opticians has been able to maintain a lasting and important position in the eyewear industry since 1969. We have had the singular honour of catering to the eyewear needs of buyers from across the globe including many foreign dignitaries. Closer to home, we have had the continuous privilege of serving members of the diplomatic community, politicians, bureaucrats, film stars and most notably in the recent past, The President of India.

OUR FOUNDER
Shri. R.K. Kataria
Our founder, a visionary with over 60 years of knowledge and experience in the optical and eyewear industry helped change the way people perceived their eyewear, not only as a functional tool but as a fashion accessory.
He opened his first optical store in partnership in Old Delhi's famous Chandini Chowk in the 1950s. Expecting the then relatively unknown South Extension-1 to turn into a popular shopping destination, he took a gigantic leap of faith to open our first store in 1969.
OUR MANAGING PARTNER
Mr. Rajiv Kataria
A veteran of the industry, he took over the reins from our founder after gaining his fellowship in dispensing (F.B.D.O) from the prestigious Association of British Dispensing Opticians in 1985 and is responsible for the overall performance and growth.
Under his leadership, GEM Opticians is now widely recognised for its professionalism, style, quality and prompt service. With his professional prowess and astuteness, he continuously empowers Team GEM to aspire to exceed the expectations of our discerning clientele.
